Currently about 600,000 buttock augmentation procedures are performed annually worldwide, the vast majority of which are performed on women. Why? Why do so many women want their buttocks modified? Do the changes significantly increase their attractiveness to men? And what exact dimensions do they want their buttocks modified to? Accordingly, what anatomical features do cosmetic surgeons use to determine the ideal post surgery shape for a particular patient.
Joel Vilensky has been a member of the club since 2024. He has a BS from Michigan State, an MA from the University of Chicago and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin. anatomy and cell biology for the I U School of Medicine in Fort Wayne. He has published more than 100 articles and numerous books primarily on anatomy and radiology. He is finishing up a book on the buttocks, A Deep Dive Into Your Amazing Backside!

Joel Vilensky felt compelled to share his love of butts and beauty with the world. He wrote the book “The Full Moon: The Story of the Human Behind”. Warning - this book and our presentation today contain photos of naked people.
Butts and Culture
Joel presents a video of the Brazil’s Miss Bumbum culture contest. Everyone in Brazil votes for the best bum. This contest produced a market for the Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. There are 640,000 butt lifts done worldwide. Cultures in different times and places have different ideas about what makes a beautiful butt. Joel presents a contrast between various butts from London in the 19th century, 2014 Playboy, the lyric video for Baby Got Back 1992 (big butt), vs. Vogue Magazine ‘Kiss on a Stick’.
Universal Allure
There is a universal allure for the hourglass figure. The favored waist to hip ratio, WHR, is 0.7 for women and 0.8 for men. But there are many more butt factors such as creases, folds, and depressions.
The Art of the Butt
The surgeon is an artist looking for aesthetic harmony for each patient. Butt models are useful tools. For women, there are 5 butt shape categories. Fashion advice caters to each category. The surgeon modifies bones, muscles, fat, and skin to achieve the desired butt. Fat is the primary medium in butt surgery. Skin removal is next.
Surgery
Joel showed us a YouTube video of Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. The audience said: everyone who wants this surgery should be told to watch this video. Surgeons apply ultrasound to dissolve fat, extract the fat, purify it, and reinject it. Joel explained that fraudsters will inject anything including fix-a-flat. This of course causes harm and death. Butt augmentation surgery has the danger of accidental injection of material into a major vein. This will result in pulmonary embolism and death. Another butt augmentation procedure is to use implants. Yes, men get butt augmentation surgery too!
