(1) After the Membership Committee has approved an application for membership, all information pertaining to the applicant shall be reviewed by the Board at a regular called meeting. A vote shall be taken and approval by two-thirds of the Board of Directors shall elect the prospect to membership, subject to payment of dues applicable to membership classification.

(2) Member Emeritus grade

(2.1) Eligibility: The candidate shall have been a member for 15 years, have contributed to the improvement of the Scientech Club, and shall exemplify the objects of the club as stated in its nature and purpose.

(2.2) Recommendation: At least 20 days before the autumnal equinox (September 23) each year, the secretary shall issue an invitation to the club membership for the names of candidates for this autumnal honor. The proposer shall outline the reasons for the choice and the transmittal shall be endorsed by an elected board member.

(2.3) The Membership Committee can evaluate the proposals or generate their own. When a Member Emeritus is chosen, and agreed to by two-thirds of the Board of Directors, a suitable certificate shall be engrossed and presented at the next appropriate meeting, preferably an evening meeting.

(2.4) A member elected to Emeritus grade shall be considered an honorary director without vote and will continue to pay dues and retain all other privileges of membership.

(2.5) There shall be no more than 8% of the membership in Emeritus grade at any time.

(3) Past presidents who are members of the Club but not elected or ex-officio members of the Board of Directors shall be honorary Directors without vote but with all other privileges of Board membership.

(4) Dues for Resident Members shall be set at the December meeting of the Board of Directors and may be reduced throughout the year for new members as scheduled by the board.

(5) Dues for Non-resident Members shall not exceed one-half those for Resident Members. Family Memberships for a husband and wife shall be set at 160% of a single membership, providing that only a single copy of printed communications, excluding election ballots, shall be provided to the Family.

(6) Dues shall be payable upon notice by the Treasurer dated no later than January 15.

(7) Unless otherwise provided by the Board, any members in arrears after April 1 shall be suspended.

(8) A member whose dues are unpaid by December 31 shall be dropped from membership by action of the Board of Directors.

(9) The Vice-President shall be chairman of the Membership Committee and shall report to the Board upon request of the President.

(10) At the March meeting of the Board of Directors, the Treasurer shall provide the Chairman of the Membership Committee a list of members with unpaid dues. The Chairman may elicit aid in personal contact of such former members to see if they will make up their arrears. The final report on arrears will be made at the April meeting of the Board of Directors by the Vice-President.

(11) Members of any special committee may be invited to any Board of Directors meeting without vote.

(12) Robert's Rules of Order shall be followed.

(13) The incumbent President shall be one of the designated members of the Nominating Committee ex-officio.

(14) These By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors.
